At Hemen sustainability is the core of our brand’s value. Since day one we are dedicated to offering the best organic underwear on the market. 

Thus our collection is exclusively made of GOTS certified organic cotton. Indeed organic cotton is not only great because it preserves our soil from the use of pesticides but it also provides longer fibers which guarantee products with greater lifespan. The use GOTS certified cotton (which stands for Global Organic Textile Standards), ensures greater transparency and traceability when sourcing organic cotton :

» Banning the use of dangerous inputs, such as toxic heavy metals and aromatic solvents.

Besides, all our products are Oeko-Tex certified, an independent label that helps to protect effectively both consumers and the planet. This label is pioneering the creation of tests that aim to limit the use of chemicals, and whose thresholds go way beyond what is currently in effect on a national and an international level.

Locally made is an engagement we took when we started in 2014. We manufacture 100% of our underwear in Portugal and 100% of our socks in France. We value historical savoir-faire and ethical production ( considering the human size of the factories and the geographic proximity ) as being the greatest proactive way to guarantee respectful and sustainable products.

Inspired by the romance of the Basque Country and brought to life by skilled artisans in Portugal, our garments represent the union of tradition and contemporary design. Ethical production and reduced transport emissions are integral to each step, resulting in underwear you can truly feel good about wearing.

We recommend to gentle wash. 30°c with eco-friendly detergent. A very underrated fact we are happy to share here: softeners reduce the capacity of absorption of cotton. 

Tumble drying always deteriorates underwear, even the best men’s boxer briefs. ndeed tumble dryers do not only damage the cotton fibers but also the elastane thread. Tumble dry low or dry line when possible.

All our mens boxer briefs are pre-washed to avoid shrinkage.
Nevertheless, a minimal amount of shrinkage is possible, especially if exposed to heat. Washing in cool water and air drying maintains your underwear’s fit and extends its life—a harmony of responsible care and thoughtful design.

When it comes to lifespan, the answer is always meant to adapt to the use and frequency of use.. Depending on your job, activities, sport and frequency of wearing, the lifespan may vary. Even though underwear is the garment which is the most submitted to friction, the boxer briefs Albar, our organic cotton underwear has an average lifespan of 2 years.
